What is Private ID?

Private ID is an automated solution that helps you protect your identity. Identity theft occurs when your personal information such as ssn, name, address, credit history and other information are in the hands of an id thief. This information can be used to apply for and receive credit cards, loans, contractual and other credit related commitments. Private ID helps you put checks in place to prevent these events from occurring. Here's how it works.

How it works

We start by contacting the credit bureaus and require that they put an alert on your credit report that requires any credit issuer to contact you via a phone call for authorization anytime someone tries to open a new account in your name. This means anytime someone is trying to evaluate your credit for the use of a new credit card or loan, you will be notified. Stopping identity theft in its tracks.

Credit bureaus sell your personal information to companies wishing to extend credit to you. This information can end up in anyone's hands. We contact the credit bureaus  and require them to stop selling your personal information. This keeps your personal information out of the hands of potential thieves and reduces the amount of junk mail you will receive.

Next, we request your free credit reports every four months. Your credit reports will be mailed to your home for your review. This will give you the opportunity to monitor your credit reports frequently so you can identity any potential identity theft.

We continually repeat steps 1 - 3 to ensure that your identity is protected. If you experience identity theft while using Private ID, we provide up to $1 million to fix it.
